On 25 January 2006, InterDigital Technology Corporation informed ETSI that the initial reference to the Deliverable 3GPP TS 41 101 Release 5 - ETSI TS 141 101, of their IPR declaration of 8 April 2004, for UMTS, should be read as referring to 3GPP TS 21 101 Release 5 - ETSI TS 121 101.
On 30 October 2006, InterDigital Technology Corporation requested ETSI to remove the above mentioned IPR.
On 21 March 2007, InterDigital Technology Corporation has informed ETSI that upon further review, EP Patent No. 1179279 (only the European Patent (UK)) has lapsed.

"a judgment was rendered in a UK legal proceeding identified as Case No.: HC 05 C02026 in the High Court of Justice, Chancery Division Patents Court. The court rendered a judgment that EP (UK) 0 855 807, EP (UK) 1 062 749 and EP (UK) 1 210 777 were not essential. The Court’s judgment was not entered as a final order, and the case was settled prior to any appeal. Despite the Court’s findings, InterDigital believes these patents are essential and therefore maintains its declarations with respect to them."
